This week, I’m off to Grand Marais (for Mountain Stage), Seattle, and Portland this week for… The Jill and Julia Show. I was just looking for a video to put up of us, and found the end-credit song to Julia’s Fabulous “Letting Go of God” Movie. We wrote the song together and recorded it in the B-room of Henson studios – same place where Joni recorded “Blue”, Carole did “Tapestry”, and…where Bruce’s veins were popping singing “We Are the World”. We had Don Was, the Heartbreaker’s Benmont Tench, and Jim Keltner (drummer for all those Plastic Ono band records) on the record. Story: I asked Keltner if he knew the Billy Preston’s “That’s the Way God Planned it” from George Harrison’s, “The Concert For Bangladesh”, cause that’s the same vibe that I wanted. Everyone in the room burst out laughing. Jim said, “Yep, I know it…that was me”. I felt like the worlds biggest goofball.

Here it is: Letting Go of God. I wish we had done an actual video.

John Doe and I  are here singing Under the Bridge from the Day at the Pass record. It was shot on…1st generation iPhone and some Super-8 app.

John (who is out with X and Blondie now) and I have decided that we wanted to do some hanging out, so what better way than to book a couple of shows. We have one at Largo in LA (Oct 23) and one in San Raphael (Oct 25). The idea is that we trade off singing and play on each other’s songs. It’s a good time.

Another bit of news! You can order my ” Jill Sobule Guitar Primer Volume 1″ on the internets…digitally
